GORDO | Annie Ruth McCafferty, age 85, of Gordo, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Sand Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Croft officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Eugene McCafferty; her parents and two brothers, Thomas Shirley and Leroy Shirley.Survivors include her sons, Reggie McCafferty and his wife Gretchen of Harvest, Alabama, and Mitch McCafferty of Gordo; granddaughter, Tara McCafferty Flanikin and husband Ian of Hoover; sister-in-law, Sue Shirley of Gordo, and a number of nieces and nephews and close friends of Gordo.Annie Ruth Shirley McCafferty was born January 21, 1930 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Walter Lee Shirley and Rhoda O'Bryant Shirley. She was a retired seamstress, a member of the Sand Springs United Methodist Church and a well-known resident of Pickens County.Pallbearers will be Leonard Hudson, Matt Holsonback, Scott Bailey, Jake Bailey, Jimmy Sullivan and Sammy Sanders.Honorary pallbearers are Jean Bailey, Sherrie Hudson, Dr. John Brandon and staff of Gordo Family Practice, staff of Pickens County Medical Center and staff of Hospice of West Alabama.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL. 35404
