Obituary

Arlis Barksdale, age 73, of Ethelsville, AL passed away June 6, 2019 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Northport Free Will Baptist with Bro. Tim Baumgarten, Bro. Jimmy Jones and Bro. Larry Reynolds officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:00
pm in Forest Methodist Church Cemetery Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, L. C., W. E., Travis, Frank, Jesse and Aaron Barksdale and son-in-law, John Carl Howell, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Tilley Barksdale; four daughters, Melissa Howell, Christie Wilson (Mike), Amy Foster (Jonathan) and Ashley Barksdale; one son, David Barksdale (Nicole); two sisters, Ruth Shumpert and Ann Cumberland (Carl); eleven grandchildren, Alecia Howell, John Carl Howell, Jr. (Jeanette),
Lori Cooper (Stephen), Sierra Boisclair, Erin Barksdale, Hunter Brazeal, Harley Brazeal, Leslie Walker (Gary),
Carson Foster, Jon Coleman Foster and Jennifer Jones; eleven great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Jennifer Cooper, Chezlie and Zaydee Hodo, Cody, Rebecca, Courtney and Kaitlyn Walker, Tyler Perrigin, Gage Jones and
Kendall King and a number of nieces and nephews.
Arlis was born July 21, 1945 in Caledonia, Mississippi to the late William Collier Barksdale and Lola Gunnells Barksdale. He was a member of Northport Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of the
City of Tuscaloosa.
Pallbearers will be his son, grandsons and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers Dr. Joe Wallace, Dr. George Hemstreet, Dr. Scott Arnold, Dr. John Sparky
Duffy, CICU and the Cancer Center at DCH, Suzanne Schuhart, Rev. Ricky Cash, Rev. Kenn Spencer, Steve Richardson and Company, employees of the City of Tuscaloosa Police Department and Department of Transportation and members of Northport Free Will Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Free Will Baptist Children's Home, 86 Academy
