Samuel Ben Hammett, age 73, of Gordo, AL died February 23, 2026 at Sumter Health & Rehab in York.  Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Franconia-Oak Grove Cemetery in Aliceville with Rev. George McLaurine officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at the Snoddy home, 1402 Franconia Drive, Aliceville, AL 35442.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tina Marie Hammett; father, Horace Ben Hammett; brother, Jim Hammett; brother-in-law, Kenneth Martin and sister-in-law, Kathy G. Hammett.
Survivors include is mother, Mary Virginia Snoddy Hammett; sister, Julie H. Martin; brother, Bill Hammett and a niece and three nephews.
Ben was born October 7, 1952 in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Aliceville, a former employee of Martin Truck and Tractor and Wal-Mart.
