CARROLLTON | Benjamin Cecil McDaniel, age 53, of Carrollton, died February 14, 2016, at Pickens County Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Carrollton Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn McDaniel, Rev. Tommy Winders and Buddy Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Edwin McDaniel; and sister, Connie Sue Cameron.
Survivors include his mother, Judy Halbert and husband, Tom; sons, Shawn McDaniel and wife, April, Bryan McDaniel and friend, Debbie Harcrow, Dillan McDaniel and wife, Lauren and Lucas McDaniel; sisters, Kimberly Ann Hollis and husband, Aron and Linda Borque; and grandchildren, Noah, Eli, Cambry, and Charli McDaniel.
Ben was born January 25, 1963 in Pickens County, Alabama. He was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church, a former employee of McShan Lumber Company and a well-known resident of the Carrollton area.
Pallbearers are Don Hickman, Craig Clanahan, Ricky Hicks, Danny Hicks, Wayne Hicks, Jason Knight, Brock White and Pat Poole.
Honorary pallbearers are Aubrey Foster, DeWayne Nance, Shane Sims, Mike Britt, Randle Hicks, Greg Turner, Hugh Duncan, Perry Hickman, Danny Hutchins, Jason Eatmon, staff of Pickens County Medical Center and staff of Amedisys Hospice.
