Obituary

BIRMINGHAM | Benjamin Powell Curry, III, age 38, of Birmingham, Alabama, died April 11, 2015, at his parents' home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Carrollton United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim McCool officiating. A private burial will be held at Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Benjamin Powell Curry, Sr. and Lillian Coty Curry and Norman and Margaret Murray. Survivors include sons, Benjamin Powell Curry IV and Charles Connor Curry; parents, Benjamin Powell Curry Jr. and Margaret Rebekah Murray Curry; the mother of his children, Ashley Curry; sister, Shelley Curry Vold (Aaron); and nieces Lillian and Lucille Vold.Ben was born February 2, 1977 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was a member of Carrollton United Methodist Church and a sales representative for Dentsply-GAC in Birmingham. He was a loving father, son, brother and uncle. He was an avid outdoorsman and an outstanding athlete in high school. He was loved by all who knew him as was evidenced by so many friendships that spanned decades. As sad as we are to no longer have Ben with us on earth, we find comfort and joy in knowing he is home with his Heavenly Father. Pallbearers will be Jay Burkahlter, Dusty Sheppard, Brad Lang, David Pate, Brian Sparks, John Russell, Stuart Curry and Andy Hamlin.Honorary pallbearers will be the Pickens Academy 1994 State Championship Football team.
