Obituary

REFORM – Bernard Lee Elmore, age 91, of Reform, Ala., died March 21, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Blakney officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children, Edna Earl Pate Elmore; daughter, Brenda Elmore Mills; sister, Maudine Larsen; brothers, J. T. and his wife, Shirley Hayes, and Doug Elmore.
Survivors include his sons, Tony Elmore and wife, Connie of Gordo, Ala. and Steve Elmore of Northport, Ala.; son-in-law, Joe Mills of Northport, Ala.; brothers, Verner Elmore (Betty) of Gordo, Ala., Joe Elmore (Daryle) of Reform, Ala., George Millard Elmore (Carol) of Kentucky and Larry Elmore (Martha) of Tennessee; brother-in-law, Alf Larsen of Huntsville, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Frances Elmore Graham of Columbus, Miss. and Linda Elmore of Jackson, Miss.; four grandchildren, Jody Mills (Susan), April Woodall (Jonathan), Ryan Elmore and Luke Elmore (Jennifer); nine great-grandchildren, Brooke Mills, Kaitlin Christian, Kennedy Woodall, Mason, Ridge and Addy Elmore, Emily Grimes and Gracie and Ryder Elmore; a number of nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Mary Barrett.
Mr. Elmore was born February 10, 1925 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Archie Elmore and Vera Bridges Elmore. He was a retired employee of the Pickens County Road Department, a United States Army veteran of World War II and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Jody Mills, Ryan Elmore, Luke Elmore, John Elmore, Mason Elmore and Joe Mills.
Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of Elmore Road, residents of West Hill Square, staff of Arbor Woods Health and Rehab and the volunteers for Meals on Wheels.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society , Mid-South Division, P.O. Box 59180, Homewood, AL 35259-9180 or Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404. -
