REFORM - Bernice P. Comerford, age 93, of Reform, Ala., died May 7, 2017, at her home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Meherg officiating and Robin Edgeworth with Eulogy. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hays Comerford; son, Bill Comerford; and her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Comerford of Reform, Ala.; sisters, Sabra Nelson (Mac) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Mary Parham (Max) of Marietta, Ga.; brothers, Gene Powell (Chris) of Gordo, Ala. and Joe Powell (Jean) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Comerford was born January 1, 1924 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Samuel Virgil Powell and Bernice Ottice Lancaster Powell.
She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church of Reform and the Maggie Graham Sunday School Class and she attended Howard College.
She was a wonderful mother, wife and friend. She had a laugh that was contagious and loved being with her family and friends. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several different bridge groups.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Caring Days Adult Daycare, 943 31st Street E., Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.
