CARROLLTON – Bertie Sue Swedenburg, age 76, of Carrollton, Ala., died April 14, 2016, at Noland Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Carrollton with Rev. Shawn McDaniel and Rev. Joe Fondren officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Swedenburg; her parents; and two sisters, Ruth Gates and Peggy Corley.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Swedenburg of McCalla, Ala and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Swedenburg was born February 08, 1940 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Burris Coleman Perrigin and Annie Laura Bledsoe Perrigin. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, a graduate of Carrollton High School and a retired assistant administrator in the health care (nursing home) industry.
I cherish my memories with Mom. We had a forever, loving bond together and she will always have a place in my heart.
Pallbearers will be Mike Swedenburg, Jerry Skelton, Burt Daniels, Chad Pitts, Don Bates, Jackie Ray and David Adkins.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Cross Roads Baptist Church.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Amedisys Home Health and staff of DCH Regional Medical Center.
