Bertis Mayo Schultz Sr., age 88, of Ethelsville, Al passed away Wednesday July 10, 2024 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday July 13, 2024 at Ethelsville Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Trotter officiating. Burial will follow at the Ethelsville Community Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 62 years, Betty Ruth Bradshaw Schultz; daughter, Patricia Hammond; son, Jerry Alan Schultz; brother, Linley Schultz and granddaughter, Amber Schultz.
Survivors include his two sons, Bertis Schultz and wife Cathy of Ethelsville, and Roger Schultz and wife Elisa of Ethelsville; six grandchildren, Rachel Heaton (Heath), Heather Harcrow (Chris), Kayla Brown (Trey), Kristen Harvey (Allen), Noah Hammond, and Lauren Calaway (Jacob); twelve great grandchildren, Ezra, Lydia, Micah, Holden, Nora, Jonah, Charlotte, Olivia, Marshall, Elizabeth, Nicole, and Avery.
Mayo was born March 11, 1936 in Ethelsville, AL to the late Talmege Linley Schultz and Etta Mae Sobley Schultz. He was a member and deacon at Ethelsville Baptist Church, and served his country in the U.S. National Guard. He was also a retired production worker for United Technology with 45 years of service, and a cattle farmer.
Pallbearers will be Noah Hammond, Allen Harvey, Chris Harcrow, Trey Brown, Jacob Calaway, Heath Heaton, Alan Hammond, and Paul Agerton.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Amedisys Hospice 1300 McFarland Blvd. NE Suite 340 Tuscaloosa, AL 35406.
