Obituary

Betty Snow, 86, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Skelton Funeral Home will provide the services at Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church in Northport, AL on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Visitation will begin at noon, followed by the service at 1pm.

Betty was born on July 20, 1940, to William and Mattie Sue Haynie. She graduated from Gorgas High School and later earned her associate degree in nursing as an RN from Shelton State Community College. She worked many jobs in her lifetime, notably at Gulf States Paper, as a school bus driver for the Tuscaloosa County School District, Friedman Library bookmobile. She was most proud of her 35+ years in nursing. She worked in labor and delivery and high-risk nursery, where she played a vital role in many lives.

She was known for her strong work ethic, strong will, and sense of humor. She was one of a kind. She was very proud of her 2 children. She also adored her 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was a true Christian, leaned on her faith in God, and is now resting by his side.

Mrs. Snow is survived by her son, Mark A. Snow, Sr. (Ruth); daughter, Kathy Pate (Jimmy); grandchildren, Amy, Heather, Colby (Katelyn), Stephanie (Patrick), Coy (Madison), Mark, Jr.; great grandchildren, Barrett, Baker, Dallas, Paige, Miles, Walker; brother, David Haynie; sisters, Marilyn Graham, Sarah Bobbie Bebout, Jackie Rice, Cindy Nix.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Sue Haynie; sisters, Shirley Hall, Billie Rowland and the father of her children, Olan Snow.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Pate, Colby Pate, Coy Pate, Mark Snow, Jr., Barrett Pate and Baker Pate.
