TUSCALOOSA Betty McShan Woodard, age 86, of Tuscaloosa, died November 30, 2013, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 176 T. B. Woodard Jr. Rd., Reform, AL 35481 with Rev. David Blakney officiating. Burial will follow in Mineral Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Monday, December 2, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service and immediately following the service there will be a visitation and reception in the fellowship hall.She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Thomas B. Woodard Jr.; dearly beloved grandson, Michael Anthony Woodard; sister, Mary McShan Quarles; grandparents, Nathan Spencer and Mary Elizabeth "Babe" McShan, Robert Lee and Martha Elizabeth "Betty" Manning; and many wonderful aunts and uncles.Survivors include her daughters, Karen Lee Woodard (David Arnold) of Northport, Ala. and Mary Sue Woodard Morcos of Mt. Brook, Ala.; sons, Thomas B. Woodard III (Angie) of Atlanta, Ga. and Michael Glenn Woodard (Carol) of Northport, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Lyle Hughes (Curt) and Julia W. Stewart; brothers, John Tyler McShan Jr. of McShan, Ala.; grandchildren, Amanda Woodard, Abby Woodard Myers (Ken), Livia Woodard, and John Morcos; seven great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Betty McShan Woodard was born on March 10, 1928 to the late John Tyler McShan, Sr. and Jessie Manning McShan in DeKalb, Miss. returning to McShan and Melrose, Alabama at the age of five, during the "great depression" years. She attended McShan and Reform Elementary School and graduated from Pickens County High School. She then attended Judson College and the University of Alabama where she was active in several honoraries and she also played high school and college basketball. Ms. Woodard was a mother, homemaker and business person at Reform Motor Co. and Rainer Jewelry. She was a supporter of schools and the community, a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, an avid player of duplicate bridge and a lifelong environmentalist. Pallbearers will be Charlie Quarles, Jerry Barley, Terry Barley, Tyler McShan, Grover Allgood, Hunter McShan, and Gee Allgood.Honorary pallbearers are Bonnie Stanin, Cassandra Williams, Brenda Kinard, Bernice Hewitt, Betty J.
