Billy Joe Gay, age 82, of Gordo, AL passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Flatwoods Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Fair officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wyatt Pearson; his parents; stepmother, Mildred Gay and brother, Bobby Gene Gay.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Josephine Gay; daughter, Carol Herring (Perry); son, Carl Pearson (Renee`); brothers, Steve Loftus (Debbie), Paul Gay (Elaine), Wesley Gay (Mona) and David Gay (Sheilah); sister, Connie McMahon (Dewayne) and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gay was born October 28, 1938 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Arthur M. Gay and Flora Ree Snider Gay. He was the owner of Gay's Used Cars, a veteran of the United States Army and a life long resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Gene Wilson, Jackie Wilson, Roger Wheat, Roy Fair, Mike McDaniel and Ricky Findley.
Honorary Pallbearers are Leon Fair and Tonia and Mike Fuqua.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Flatwoods Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 778 Flatwoods Road, Gordo, AL 35466.
