Bobbie Jo Huff Spain, age 87, of Millport, AL passed away July 18, 2024, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Funeral services will be held 3:00PM Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Skelton Funeral Home in Reform, Alabama, with Rev. Byron Benson and the Rev. George McLaurine officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Church Cemetery in Reform with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at Jacks in Reform.
Born to Eddie Hobson Huff and Lovely Lee Huff, Friday April 13, 1937, Mrs. Spain was married to Philip Wayne Spain on March 31, 1956. She leaves behind one daughter Phyllis Spain Hughes (William "David") of Millport, two granddaughters, Alicia Richardson Reece (Bobby Lee), of Millport, and Hannah Jolynn Hughes, of Birmingham. She also leaves behind one great- granddaughter, Jalynn Lee Reece of Millport, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews. A lifetime resident of the Antioch and Liberty communities in Pickens County, Alabama, "Miss Bobbie", "Aunt Bobbie", or "Bobbie Jo", as she was affectionately known, graduated from Liberty High School in 1955, worked 42 1/2 years for American Bosch, otherwise known as United Technologies, in Columbus, Mississippi. She was a lifelong member of Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Reform, Alabama. She was treasurer for Woodmen Lodge 116 for many years. Bobbie Jo had a love, and special gift, for genealogy, and she was a member of the Pickens County Genealogy Society. Her genealogy knowledge will certainly be missed by many! She and her husband, Philip, managed Little Buck Hunting Club for over 4 decades. She spent much of her time cooking and entertaining. She also enjoyed vintage glass and searching for other treasures in local antique malls. There was always some country, gospel, or good soul music playing in the background and a good book in her hand!
Pall bearers will be Bobby Reece, Terry Walters, Justin Oglesby, Joey Gibson, Darvin Hemphill, and Bradee Hemphill
Honorary Pall Bearers are members of Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church present and past members and landowners of Little Buck Hunting Club, Tyler McShan, Keith "Possum" Perrigin, Greg Turner, members of Pickens Genealogy Society, Randy Simpson and members of Woodmen Lodge 116, and the staff of Hospice of West Alabama. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Antioch Cemetery Fund, or to Hospice of West Alabama.
