GORDO – Bobby Joe Sanders, age 75, of Gordo, died September 24, 2016, at Arbor Woods Health & Rehab. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Kerry Shipp officiating. Burial will follow in Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Sanders; grandson, Dakota Crews; parents; brothers, Wayne Sanders and David Ray Sanders; and father and mother-in-law, Billy Elmore and Ruby Smith.
Survivors include his daughter, Shanie Crews and husband Randall; son, Roger Sanders; brother, Mack Sanders and wife Bettye; sisters-in-law, Kay Sanders and Bonnie Elmore; and four grandchildren, Carson Sanders, Trace, MaKenna and Jadyn Crews.
Bobby Joe was born September 24, 1941 in Benevola, Alabama to the late Ross Sanders and Annie Mae Stephens Sanders. He was a retired agent with American General Insurance Company, a Deacon and member of the Gordo First Baptist Church and a well-known and respected resident of this area.
