May 13, 1945 – December 15, 2024
Robert Bond Kirk, age 79, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away December 15, 2024 after a lengthy illness at DCH Regional Medical Center and Noland Hospital in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Boothe officiating. Burial will be in Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Bond was born May 13, 1945 to the late William Oliver Kirk, Sr. and Margaret Gunter Kirk. Bond graduated from Carrollton High School in 1963 and the University of Alabama in 1967 with a degree in Business and Commerce. On the same day as his graduation, he received his commission as a United States Air Force officer.
Later in the 70's, Bond was a financial analyst with Gulf States Paper Company. In the 80's, he was employed by Leggett and Pratt, Inc. as comptroller and later as administrative manager for Leggett and Pratt. Then he worked with trade lawyers in Washington, DC, New York and Canada.
After retirement, he moved back to Alabama where he enjoyed golfing with his friends.
Survivors include his wife of almost fifteen years, Nancy Thaxton Kirk and stepdaughters, Karen Lee Booth and Lori Lee Orrell (Bill). He was affectionately known as "Bubba" to his grandchildren, John David Booth, James Michael Booth, William Orrell and Henry Orrell. He is also survived by his brother, William Oliver "Buddy" Kirk, Jr. (Emily); special nieces, Amy McIntosh (John) and Carol Reeves (Keith) and several great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John McIntosh, Keith Reeves, Matthew Reeves, John David Booth, James Michael Booth, William Orrell and Jake McIntosh. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
