Obituary

Early on the morning of January 23, 2024 Bonnie Sue Sanderson, age 64 passed away peacefully at her home in Semmes, Alabama with her Loving Husband of 32 years by her side. Ascending into Heaven to join her Loved ones, she so dearly missed. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.

Bonnie was born in Reform Alabama on May 14,1959 to the late Bobbie Lou Burkhalter and Westly Joseph VanZile. She was born and raised a Southern Baptist and always remained true to her faith. Bonnie, her sister Brenda and brother Steve at a young age were partially raised by their Grandparents (Granny Buc and Granddaddy). She had her best childhood memories right there with them. Bonnie graduated from Carrollton High School with honors in 1977 and went on to attend Ladow Tech in Carrollton Alabama. After graduating from Ladow, Bonnie eventually worked her way further down south and landed the Head Accountant / Bookkeeper job with a Fortune 500 company in Mobile Alabama. She worked there until she retired. Bonnie was never given anything in life and was used to working hard for everything she got. She would refuse anything she didn't work for, she was a very proud woman. She had the strongest work ethics I've ever seen and truly was, one of a kind.

While working in Mobile, Bonnie met, fell in love and married the Love of her life, Vance Lee Sanderson, a Marine Engineer also living in Mobile. Their marriage of 32 years was filled with unconditional love, travel, numerous adventures and many animals. Bonnie loved children, animals, gardening and riding her motorcycle. Even though Bonnie had no children of her own she always treated all of her nephews and nieces as if they were her own. Bonnie and her husband Vance both retired in 2012 while living in Semmes Alabama. Bonnie was a classy lady and had a heart of gold and never gave up. She bravely fought cancer the last two years of her life. During that time, I never heard her complain once. I can honestly say I've never known anyone as strong, brave, intelligent, courageous and beautiful as Bonnie. She will truly be missed by many. Especially by her husband Vance. I truly feel blessed for having been her husband. Our love for each other will never end. You are my Heart; you are my everything. Until we meet again my Love.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Flora Burkhalter (Granny Buc); Grandfather, Albert Burkhalter, (Granddaddy); Mother, Bobbie Lou Burkhalter Bircheat; Father, Westly Joseph VanZile; Sister, Brenda Kay Hubbard Ingle;

Survivors include Husband of 32 years, Vance Lee Sanderson, Brother, Steven VanZile; Sister, Cindy Hollinghead.
