Tuscaloosa | Boyd Harold Smith, age 71, of Tuscaloosa, died October 26, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Curtis Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends immediately following service at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his father, Boyd Jackson Smith; brother, Kenneth Smith; and his grandparents. Survivors include his mother, Mary Ellen Sellers Smith; son, Jason Boyd Smith; daughter, Kristen Camille Smith; stepdaughter, Judy Payne; and a number of cousins. Boyd was born January 18, 1944 in Pickens County, Ala. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama and a member of the First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa. Boyd was a retired bailiff for the Tuscaloosa County Judicial System and a veteran of the U.S. National Guard with 17 years of service.
