Rev. Brannon S. Pinion, age 86, of Gordo, AL passed away October 19, 2021 at Hospice of West Alabama. A private service will be held at11:00 am Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Moore's Bridge Baptist Church for family and Moore's Bridge Church family only, with Rev. Travis Free, Rev. Mike Hall and Rev. Hershel Owen officiating. The public is invited to attend graveside services which will follow in Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Northport with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Public Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Friday, October 22, 2021 at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Leonard Pinion; his parents; two brothers, Charles Pinion and Edwin Pinion and step daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Brown.
Survivors include his wife, June Pinion; daughter, Valerie Pinion Smith (Rick); son, Wayne Pinion; step daughters, Rhonda Cowart (Bobby) and Robin Lancaster (Dale); stepson-in-law, Walter Brown (Sharon); grandson, Joseph Pinion; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Pinion and Jacob Pinion; five step-grandchildren, Jason Cowart (Rena), Kari Hudson (Seth), Clinton Brown (Abby), John Lancaster (Morgan) and Reid Lancaster (Sarah) and ten step great-grandchildren, Jacob Hudson, Celie Cowart, Meredith Hudson, Ann Carsyn Cowart, Allie Cowart, Judson Lancaster, Colter Brown, Weston Brown, Leah Brown and Sawyer Brown.
Rev. Pinion was born October 20, 1934 in Forsyth County, Georgia to the late Dewey Pinion and Claudine Veleria Brannon Pinion. He was a member of Moore's Bridge Baptist Church, a minister and a veteran of the United States Army. During the 62 year span of his ministry , he served at the following churches, Shiloh Baptist Church in Kennesaw, GA; Caryville Baptist Church in Caryville, FL; Lakeside Baptist Church in Perry, FL; Reform First Baptist Church in Reform, AL; Rosedale Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, AL; Mount Olive Baptist Church in Coker, AL; Reform First Baptist Church ( 2nd time) in Reform, AL; Coalfire Baptist Church in Reform, AL and for the last ten years at Moore's Bridge Baptist Church in Elrod, AL.
Pallbearers will be Larry Brasher, John Lancaster, Dennis Pugh, Jeff Richardson, Merrill Trylor, Billy Pritchett and Eddy Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers are Eddie Ellis and Jimmy Glover.
