GORDO | Broxie C. Stuckey, age 85, of Gordo, passed away on February 15, 2015 after a lengthy illness, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2015, at Gordo City Cemetery with Rev. Ron McKay officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Maurice Stuckey, Sr.; her parents; and her siblings.
Survivors include her son, Wilson Maurice Stuckey, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Stuckey was born February 16, 1929 in Itawamba County, Mississippi and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women with a degree in Home Economics. She also graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master's Degree in Home Economics. She taught Home Economics at Gordo High School from 1953 until her retirement in 1993. She was very active in the Alabama Home Economics Association where she served as president and was awarded the Alabama Home Economics Teacher of the Year in 1987. She was also very active in the University of Alabama Home Economics Alumni Association. Broxie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gordo.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Heritage Health and Rehab and the staff of 7th floor North and ICU unit of DCH Regional Medical Center.
