Obituary

REFORM – Bruce Wayne Maughan, age 57, of Reform, Ala., died December 8, 2016. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service.He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Mathew Maughan.Survivors include his wife, Annette Reed Maughan; mother, Alice Faye Sentell Maughan; son by marriage, William Reed; sister, Kim Anderson (Chris); sisters-in-law, Liz Stacy (Bud), Thelma Grubbs and Jean Weeks; brothers-in-law, Phil Reed (Pam) and Bill Reed (Joan); nephew, Kaleb Anderson; and niece, Candace Anderson.Mr. Maughan was born on January 19, 1959 in Pensacola, Florida. He was a graduate of Pickens County High School Class of 1977 and was a commercial truck driver by trade. Bruce was passionate about the National Hot Rod Association's top fuel cars and was a crew member for Greg Morrison and Floyd Dillard at Winston Drag Racing events. On March 19, 2016 he took NASCAR Racing Experience laps around the Talladega Race Track at 153.25 mph.Bruce was a member of the National Rifle Association and was a frequent flyer with pilot, Charlie Stevens. He took annual ATV trips to Wind Rock in Oliver Springs, Tenn. and locally whenever he could get a group up for a ride.Pallbearers will be Tony McDaniel, Phil Reed, Gary Keasler, Greg McCafferty, Tim Smith and John Hardy.Honorary pallbearers are CAMO ""man's best friend"".In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
