Carl Leon Shaw, age 82, of Millport, AL passed away August 31, 2021 at his residence. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, September 4, 2021at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Mordecai and Rev. Mike Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob Shaw and Bruce Shaw (Annie Ruth) and stepmother, Doris Shaw.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Faye McGarity Shaw; his children, Ricky Shaw, Danny Shaw (Tammy), Sheila Shaw, Charles Shaw (T. K.), Tommy Shaw, Mike Shaw (Shawn) and Norma Rhudy (Terry); very special grandson that they raised, Nickolus Bryant; sister, Faye Hardin (Clark); brother, Paul Shaw (Mary); half-sister, Debbie Baker (Danny); step-brother, Larry Duncan (Linda); step-sister, Elaine;16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Carl was born January 7, 1939 in Reform, Alabama to the late W. E. Shaw and Nannie May McDaniel Shaw. He was a long standing member and deacon of Coalfire Baptist Church, a veteran of the Alabama National Guard serving for 10 years and a member of Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department. Carl started work tree cutting for Coleman Clardy, then went to work at Bryce Hospital for six years and retired from Omnova in Columbus, MS in 2002 after 30 long years of service. He loved his retirement, his knives and his coins.
