Carol Latham Evans, age 75, of Gordo, AL passed away February 14, 2021 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, February 19. 2021 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glen Kennedy and Rev. Marvin McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens in Tuscaloosa, AL with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be 6 - 8 PM Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jerry W. Evans, Sr.; her parents; sister, Brenda L. Hendrix; two sons-in-law, Kirk Bailey and Bobby Jones and brother-in-law, Bobby Ray Evans.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy E. Babb (Mark) and Terry E. Bailey (Barry Ambrose); her son, J. J. Evans (Denna Skelton); sisters, Carolyn Achterhof (Gary) and Joyce Hamilton (Bill); sisters-in-law, Nan and Bill Hardy and Janice Evans Crosby; brother-in-law, Darrell and Sharon Evans; seven grandchildren, Kayla Bailey Clayton (Seth), Justin Babb (Amanda), Heather Babb Shelton (Nate), Brooke Babb Estes (Brett), Jordan Loving, Gage Evans and Grace Loving; five great-grandchildren, Trevor Shelton, Thaxter Loving, Rylen Loving and Anna-Kolsyn Clayton and Caroline McClain Clayton and nephew, Wayne E. Hendrix.
Carol was born January 12, 1946 to the late Robert A. and Willodean Homan Latham. She was a member of Gordo First United Methodist Church. She was Miss Labor Day 1960-1961 for URW 351 and a 1964 graduate of Tuscaloosa High School. Carol graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in education, was a cosmetologist, owning her own business for over 20 years and was a retired nurse for DCH Regional Medical Center. She loved Alabama football, but most of all loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her happy place for 38 years was spending time at the Panama City Beach Resort Club with her family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Gary Achterhof, Mike Brewer, Ray Herdman, Justin Babb, Nate Shelton, Ken Homan, Brett Estes, Seth Clayton, Gage Evans and Jordan Loving.
Honorary Pallbearers are Keith Etheridge, Doug Hollyhand, Doug Graham, Tim Evans, Mike Evans, Diane Herdman, Warren and Pam Buck, Dot Brewer, Bill and Gayle Elliott, Doris Jones, Cheryle T. Franks, Ruth Babb, Dr. Tyler J. Eads, Dr. Justin Bevel and their staff, Panama City Beach Resort Club staff and Board of Directors and Week 22 family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Gordo First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 343, Gordo, AL 35466.
