Obituary

Rev. Cecil Eugene Junkin, age 93 of Gordo, AL, died July 19, 2018 at Arbor Woods Health & Rehab.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hershel Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Roads Baptist Church in Gordo, AL with
Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 6 - 8 pm
at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Harless Junkin; his son, Samuel Dwayne Junkin;
his parents and brothers, Clint Elvin Junkin and Lummie Mathis Junkin.
Survivors include his daughters, Judy Cummins (Bo), Jane Burkhalter and Suzette Smalley (Don);
son, Cecil Junkin (Lisa); sister, Valeria Davis; brothers, Eaphon Boyd Junkin (Flora Jean), Raymond
Junkin (Martha) and Joe Junkin (Billie); six grandchildren, Jon Cummins (Amy), Jana Fulgham (David),
Jamie Cummins (Brandi), Jay Burkhalter (Shelly), Caleb Leach (Lauren) and Hunter Junkin (Krystal);
eleven great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Fulgham, Nicholas Cummins, Nathan Fulgham, Garrett Cummins, Carter Cummins, Brady Cummins, Chloe Cummins, Coleman Burkhalter, Sawyer Junkin, Noah Leach and Slate Junkin; a host of nieces and nephews and special caregiver, Willodean Taylor.
Bro. Junkin was born August 24, 1924 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Virley Junkin and Edna Mae
Koon Junkin. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Gordo, AL.
Bro. Junkin always said that a preacher never retires from a calling. He was as a Southern Baptist
minister for 61 years and served as pastor of 14 different churches in the area. He was honorary Chaplain
at Arbor Woods Health and Rehab in Reform, AL for the last year and a half. He preached his last sermon on May 25, 2018 at Arbor Woods Health & Rehab.
A preacher remembered for his determination to win people to the Lord and who stayed with the truth
of the Bible. Titus 2:11-15 Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.
Honorary Pallbearers are the staff of Arbor Woods Health & Rehab, members of Emmanuel
Baptist Church and the Tuesday Morning Pastor's Breakfast Club.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Arbor Woods Health & Rehab,
