Charles Norman Abston, Jr., age 81, of Aliceville, AL died November 14, 2018 at Hospice of West
Alabama. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Dogwood Chapel with Rev.
Mike Ezelle officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home
of Reform directing. Visitation will be after the service at Dogwood Chapel, 200 5th Street NE in Aliceville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Alice Faye West Abston; his daughters, Lynn Thompson
(Bryan), Kaye Abston and Lisa Rye (Jon); two sisters, Judy Halbert and Dot Barrentine; three brothers,
Tommy Abston (Janet), J. T. Abston (Frances) and Richard Abston (Carol), five grandchildren, Justin
Thompson (Stefanie), Shannon Thompson Peeks, Kristen Lee (Dusty), Savannah Rye and Jon Wesley Rye;
eight great-grandchildren, Leah Thompson, Laurie Thompson, Lilly Thompson, Katie Lowery,
Ana-Jo Peeks, Ali-Ray Peeks, Case Lee and Briggs Lee.
Charles was born March 21, 1937 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Charles Norman Abston, Sr.
and Mary Alice Bambarger Abston. He was a member of Garden Baptist Church in Aliceville, a retired
employee of Dixie Feed and Trucking and co-owner of C & J Farms.
Charles was a U. S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He loved his family, enjoyed cooking and
as his family always joked, there were cows, cows and more cows.
Pallbearers will be Justin Thompson, Jon Wesley Rye, Danner Young, Dusty Lee, Mike McDaniel
and Mark McDaniel.
Honorary Pallbearers are the members of Garden Baptist Church.
