Obituary

GORDO | Charles Haskell Green, Jr., age 84, of Gordo, died May 21, 2015, at home. Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Herron officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, in Northport, with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the services at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, of 58 years, Octavia Hamner Green of Gordo; daughter, Margaret Floyd, of Gordo; son, Ronnie Narramore and his wife Linda, of Gordo; sisters, Rebecca Allene Cameron, of Tuscaloosa and Curtis Skelton (Roland), of Tuscaloosa; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives.
Mr. Green was born August 16, 1930 in Tuscaloosa County, Ala. to the late Charles Haskell Green, Sr. and Louvenie Sullivan Green. A native of Tuscaloosa and resident of the Zion community in Gordo, Charles was a member of Hannah United Methodist Church of Gordo. He retired from the University of Alabama Police Department and was a former employee of B.F. Goodrich. A United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, Charles served as an Air M.P. at Burtonwood Air Force Base in England.
Charles was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with friends and family, enjoyed singing gospel music and was an avid Alabama Football fan.
Pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Ryan Acker, Dylan Acker, Cody Whitley, Cade Whitley, Chance Draper, Mason Hood, Morgan Hood and Ethan Jones.
Honorary pallbearers are Alabama Hospice Care of Tuscaloosa with special thanks to Alice Wells, Shalette Whitt, Liz Whitehead, Sheila Gordon and Lisa Pennington.
A heartfelt thanks to a special grandson, Todd Narramore, who took excellent care of his Paw Paw during his final days.
In lieu of Flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Alabama Hospice Care, 3064 Palisades Ct., Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.
