CARROLLTON | Charles L. McDaniel, Sr., age 81, of Carrollton, Ala., died October 12, 2015, at Pickens County Medical Center. Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015, with Rev. Tommy Winders and Rev. Shawn McDaniel officiating. Interment was at Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Ann Uphold McDaniel; his parents; brothers, William, Cecil, O'Neal and Dean McDaniel; sisters, Evelyn Hall, Mildred Goodman and Hazel Poole.Survivors include his wife, Jewelene McDaniel; daughter, Debbie Strickland (Tim); son, Chuck McDaniel (Sandy); sister, Patty Sanford; granddaughters, Ann Marie Watt (Shawn); Lee Ann Jones (Jack), Hannah McDaniel, Haley McDaniel and Caroline McDaniel; great grandchildren, Alyssa and Mallory Watt and Gabe and Jase Jones; and a host of nieces and nephews.Charles was born September 12, 1934 in Carrollton, Ala. to the late Harvey McDaniel and Annie Ree Pate McDaniel. He was member of Carrollton Baptist Church, a retired self-employed electrician and plumber and a veteran of the U.S. Army.Pallbearers will be Mark McDaniel, W.H. ""Buddy"" McDaniel, Ben McDaniel, Byron Sanford, Bob Cusanelli, Jerry Poole and James Bowles.Honorary pallbearers are Pickens County Natural Gas Board, Mayor and Council Members of the Town of Carrollton.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center, 809 University Blvd. East, Tuscaloosa, Ala. 35401. -
