REFORM - Charles Dewey "Pete" Hydrick, age 85, of Reform, Ala., died February 24, 2018 at Pickens County Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Herschel McFarlen officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to and immediately following the service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Edwina Burks.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joyce Ellen Hydrick; three sons, Patrick Allen Hydrick (Ginny) of Waynesboro, Va., Steven Jay Hydrick (Mary) of Reform, Ala. and Charles Scott "Chuck" Hydrick (Sherry) of Prospect, Tenn.; sister, Nina Faye Shaw (David) of Millport, Ala.; five grandchildren, Virginia Nicole Hydrick, Megen Michelle Tilley (Michael ), Jeffrey Lee Hydrick (Becky), Carson Blaine Hydrick and Megan Elizabeth Stapp (Jacob); four great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Emelia, Emma and Greyson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pete was born November 11, 1932 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Edward Grady Hydrick and Irene Huff Hydrick. He was a member of the North Pickens Church of Christ, a retired electronics technician for IBM and a veteran of the United States Air Force.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Arbor Woods Rehab Facility, Pickens County Medical Center, Amedysis Hospice, Sandi Towne and Susan Lancaster for their good care.
Pallbearers will be Terry Mills, Jesse Mills, Mike Shaw, Billy Laessig, Jeremy Shaw and Lynn Hudson.
Honorary pallbearer is Andy Carpenter.
