GORDO – Charles Lesley "Buddy" Wilson, Sr., age 80, of Gordo, Ala., died August 4, 2016 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Sandifer officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends in the church following the service.He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Wilson.Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wilson; daughter, Sheryl Dean; son, Chuck Wilson and wife, Shelly; three grandchildren, Leslie Albright (Jamey), Jessica Wilson and Haley Wilson; four great-grandchildren, Anley Albright, Chase Albright, Mallory Morrison and Marley Crow; and his beloved dog, Liz.Buddy was born January 1, 1936 in the Moores Bridge community of Fayette County, Alabama to the late Luard Wilson and Celesta Sudduth Wilson. He was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and a retired construction superintendent.Buddy was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened. Known affectionately as "Pop" to his grandkids, he has always been a strong and steady figure in their lives. If you ever needed him, you could usually find him in his garden working on the plants that he loved or soaking up nature while fishing. He loved his wife, loved his family and loved his dog. He will be missed by all.Pallbearers will be Olan Clay, Casey Clay, Boyd Stripling, Paul Wilson, Frank Elmore and Jamey Albright.Honorary pallbearers are Holly Dyer, doctors, nurses and staff of MICU at DCH Regional Medical Center and friends at Gordo Feed Store.
