Obituary

ACWORTH, GA. – Charlotte Housel Bailey, age 77, of Acworth, Ga., formerly of Reform, Ala., died April 14, 2018, at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Graveside services were held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Gordo City Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Bassham officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, E. L. "Jack" Stewart II; second husband, Daniel Bailey; her parents; and brother, L.D. "Sonny" Housel, Jr.
Survivors include her son, John O'Kane Stewart and wife, Hannah Puster Stewart of Acworth, Ga.; daughter, Angela Kaye Wooten and husband, George Ruben Wooten of Rainsville, Ala.; sister, Martha Housel Crocker (Buddy); sister-in-law, Tenza Housel; four grandchildren, Shelby Lindsley Seabrook and Stephen Hunter Seabrook of Sumner, Ill., and Jordan Daniel Wooten and Braden Alec Wooten of Rainsville, Ala.; nieces and nephews, Nancy Beard (John), Mark Housel (Cindy) and Paul Housel (Tricia); cousins, David Housel (Susan), Raymond Housel (Cindy), Marion Housel, Beth Mitchell (Jim), Billy Daniel and Donald Daniel; and several great-nieces and nephews and second cousins.
Charlotte was born June 14, 1940 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Leonard Dwight Housel, Sr. and Lottie Elledge Housel. She was a member of Reform First United Methodist Church and was very active in the Hillside United Methodist Church in Woodstock, Ga.
Charlotte was a retired educator and high school guidance counselor for over 30 years having worked at Gordo High School and Aliceville High School.
This world is a better place because she lived, and because of the way she lived. She instilled in her family a sense of faith and a belief that the best thing you could do in this world was to love and help others. Her favorite book of the Bible was the Book of James. She believed in a faith backed by good works, and she lived that kind of life.
Honorary pallbearers are past and present students of Aliceville High School and Gordo High School.
