ALICEVILLE | Gene Pate, age 87, of Aliceville, died July 31, 2014, at his home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Magnolia Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mike Griffin officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends at the Pate residence following the graveside service.He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Vera Mae Guin and Virginia House.Survivors include his wife, Marion Pate of Aliceville, Ala.; sister, Billie Frances Kirk of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brother-in-law, Junior Robinson (Edna) of Opp, Ala.; special niece, Ann Finch and other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tony Fuller and Rocky Craft. Mr. Pate was born March 28, 1927 in Gordo, Alabama to the late William Thomas Pate and Rona Mae Freeman Pate. He was a member of the Baptist faith and a retired machine technician for Country Miss. Gene was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to West End Baptist Church, 130 Mobile Road NW, Aliceville, AL 35442.
