Connie Lee Powell, age 84, beloved mother, grandmother and community member passed away at her home in Benevola on August 18, 2023.  Memorial services will be 3:00 pm Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church with Bro. Damon Rose officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Baird and Ruby Gose Baird Neice; her husband, Richard Earl Powell; brothers, Mark Wood and Mike Baird and sister, Tina Baird.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Powell Sims of Benevola, Cherry Powell Dorroh (Bill) of Vernon and Alice Powell (Tim) of Benevola; brother, Don Wood (Kelley) of Tuscaloosa; sister, Nikki Baird Miller of Twin Falls, Idaho; six grandchildren, Karen K. Morris, Eric King, Hannah R. Sims, Haley P. Miller, Alison Powell and Matthew Livingston and five great-grandchildren, Wyatt Morris, Lily Morris, Avery McAteer, Lulah Dudley and Addie McAteer.
Connie was born May 25, 1939 in Twin Falls, Idaho.  She was a homemaker and a member of Forest Baptist Church in Gordo.  Connie was a beautiful woman with a larger than life personality, and was a known cut up that never met a stranger. Her bubbly demeanor and creativity made her exceptionally good with children and beloved not only amongst her own daughters and grandchildren but all children who grew up in the Benevola community during her life there. Her dedication to children was a joy to her, and she truly loved them all and her time spent with them.  Always the life of the party, she loved music, dancing, dressing up, and being a mess in general.   She leaves us all with many fond memories and her shining light will be deeply missed.
