Darren
Sullivan
March 4, 1965 – January 6, 2025
Darren Sullivan, age 59, of Gordo, AL died January 6, 2025 at Northport Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Dunn's Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Thomas Wilson and Bro. Alan Roggli officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation is one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Arnold Sullivan.
Survivors include his daughter, Hannah Michelle Sullivan (Joey Fanning); his mother, Tootsie Sullivan; brother, Brian Sullivan; sisters, Rhonda Christian and Sherri Lunceford (Rodney); nieces, Brianna Sullivan, Brittani Sullivan, Lucy Lunceford and Raegan Christian; nephews, Landon and Luke Lunceford; great-niece, Kayleigh Sullivan; great-nephews, Seth, Jarred and Bryant Channell, Hannah's mother, Wendy Lynn and many family members that loved him.
Born March 4, 1965 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Darren suffered a massive stroke 12 years ago. His prayer was to see Hannah grow up and God exceeded his expectations by allowing him to watch her graduate from the University of Alabama and have a successful career. We are so thankful for that extra time with him and he never took that extra time with Hannah for granted.
Darren had a big heart for others and he was the best card giver. He never forgot a birthday or special occasion. If you didn't get a card, you got a phone call.
Darren was a member of Dunn's Creek Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and so enjoyed singing His praises. He loved playing his guitar and writing songs. He often sang at nursing homes and other churches. We take comfort in knowing that he and his cousin, Deidra are once again performing together.
Darren tried hard to pick up where his dad left off. He made his mom and brother help continue dad's immaculate garden and they did a pretty good job. He loved animals and just bought a horse last month. He thought Hannah and the kids needed something to ride. We look forward to seeing him again.
Pallbearers will be Landon Lunceford, Luke Lunceford, Vince Montgomery, Jeff Holloway, Josh Shirley, Michael Barrett, Wayne Sullivan and Seth Channell, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dunn's Creek Baptist Church, ICU nurses, doctors and respiratory staff at Northport Medical Center DCH, Virgil Watson and so many cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Dunn's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Frances Brown, 17477 Browns Dairy Road, Elrod, AL 35458 or to Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, 3140 Inv. Dornell Cousette St., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
