David Lee Estis, age 72, of Sapps, AL went to his heavenly home to be with Jesus on Friday, September 17, 2021. He died at his residence with his loving wife by his side. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Sapps with Bro. Randy Gray officiating. Interment will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Sapps with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
David is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anne B. Estis of Sapps, AL; sons, Robert Lee Estis (Janet) of Delma and Joseph David Estis of McShan; daughter, Kathy Vinson (Travis) of Wetumpka; four grandchildren, Alan Humber, Aaron Humber, Levi Estis and Luke Estis; sister, Charlotte McJenkin (Larry) of Columbus, MS; brother, Richard Estis (Janice) of Fayette; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; his best friend, Joe Estano and other dear friend, Lois Bruce.
David was born April 15, 1949 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Robert Lee Estis, Jr. and Eddith "Babe" Drummond Estis. David enjoyed farming, woodworking and fixing things; he always had a project going. He was a godly man of integrity and left a notable impression on all who knew him. He loved his family, friends and neighbors. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. David retired after working with the telephone company for 38 years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Daniel "Shep" Gibson, Doug Goodman, David Wilkins, Tony McDaniel, Henry Reece and Leroy Holliday.
Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Estano, Doug Noland, Johnny House, Rufus Wilkins, Les House, Sonny Noland, Robert Earl Jaynes and Dr. James L. Parker.
