Obituary

Donald McGarity, age 81, of Reform, AL passed away January 19, 2022 at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Arbor Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be 6 - 8 pm Friday, January 21, 2022 at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Juanita Noland; brothers, James O'neal McGarity (Blanche) and Ray McGarity (Alma); granddaughter, Heather Belk and brothers-in-law, Carl Shaw and Douglas Tunnell.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Spencer McGarity; daughters, Kathy Belk (Terry) and Marcia McGarity; sons, Donnie McGarity (Tammy) and Dwight McGarity (Lisa); sisters, Geneva Tunnell and Faye Shaw; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Donald was born July 8, 1940 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late William "Willie" McGarity and Mamie Gobor McGarity. He was a member of Arbor Springs Baptist Church and a retired pipefitter for McAbee Construction.
Donald was a member of Tuscaloosa Plumbers and Steamfitters Local # 372 and a veteran of the Army National Guard.
Pallbearers are David McGarity, John McGarity, Kyle Reynolds, Trevor McGarity, Joseph Perkins and Tommy Shaw.
Honorary Pallbearers are the staff of Aliceville Manor Nursing Home and Tuscaloosa Plumbers and Steamfitters Local # 372.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Alabama Chapter Alzheimer's Association, 1 Metroplex Drive, Birmingham, AL 35209.
