Doris Nell Strickland Jones, age 83, of Gordo, AL died August 15, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 17, 2018 at Highland Baptist Church in Gordo with Rev. Jerry Robbins and Rev. Shawn McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Curtis Jones; her sons, Larry Jones (Am) and Tommy Jones (Anita); her daughter, Migyon Tilly (Bo); brother, Hubert Strickland; nine grandchildren, Curtis Jones, Valentina Stakem (BJ), Colt Jones (Meredith), Justin Jones (Haley), Joshua Jones (Stacey), Erika McKee (Michael), Casey Shirley (Chubby), Corey Byars and Madilyn Tilley; nine great-grandchildren, Edward, Michelle, Alex, Jonas, Ronan, Haylee, Rylan, Ashton and Caden.
Doris was born June 24, 1935 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late William Jonas Strickland and India Ola Thomas Strickland. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Pallbearers will be Colt Jones, Justin Jones, Joshua Jones, BJ Stakem, Mike George and Ken O'Bryant.
Honorary Pallbearers are Melissa George, niece and caregiver, Hospice of West Alabama, Amedisys Home Health, Dr. Julia Boothe and staff and Dr. Frederick Graham and staff.
