CARROLLTON | Dorothy Rita Simmons, age 78, of Carrollton, died June 18, 2014, at Pickens County Medical Center. Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at St. Roberts Catholic Church in Reform with Father Gerald Holloway officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Burial will be held in St. Francis Cemetery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island with Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home directing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Thomas Simmons and Florence Wood Simmons Barchi; and her sisters, Louise Montefusco and twin, Doris Demearse.
Survivors include her brother, Albert Thomas Simmons, Jr. (Nancy); aunt, Hazel Huffman; uncle, Eugene Wood; nephews, John Barchi, Albert Simmons, Michael Simmons and Mark Montefusco; and nieces, Gail Ozel and Nancy Jean Simmons.
Dorothy was born February 4, 1936 in Providence, Rhode Island and was raised by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wood, until 1955. She then lived with her aunt, Ruth Menders and in 2003 she moved to Carrollton, Ala. to live with her aunt, Hazel Huffman. Dorothy was a retired employee of Monet Jewelry with 40 years of service.
