CARROLLTON | Earline Owings Caddis died March 8, 2014 in Gainesville, Florida at the age of 98. Earline was born April 7, 1915 in Carrollton, Alabama to Gardner and Annie Owings. Earline graduated from Carrollton City Schools. Then attended the University of Alabama and became a medical secretary. In Tuscaloosa she met Charles Marion Caddis and they married October 3, 1936 at Earline's home. They had two children, Marian Earline Caddis Braswell and Charles Owings Caddis. "C.M." and Earline moved all over Alabama and also lived in Valdosta, Georgia and Gainesville, Florida from 1936 until his retirement from Liberty National Life Insurance in 1973. They served in different Methodist Church and community organizations in their various homes. Earline was renowned for her piano playing and her sense of humor. Laughter surrounded her. This delightful lady is survived by her sister, Bess Owings Causey of Salinas, Calif.; her daughter, Marian C. Braswell of Gainesville, Fla.; two grandsons, D. Marcus Braswell, Jr. of Miami, Fla. and Charles B. Braswell of Lakeland, Fla.; three granddaughters, Leslie Owings Caddis Davidson, Trent Nicholson Caddis Hull, Marjorie Addison Caddis Hubbard of Birmingham, and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom live in Alabama and Florida. Earline will be greatly missed by all of them as well as by her numerous friends. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Carrollton City Cemetery in Carrollton, Alabama with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Pallbearers will be Douglass and Beau Hubbard, Matt and Edward Davidson, Keith Cox and Forrest Lewis. Honorary Pallbearers are Al Caddis, Winston Ferguson, David Miller, Patrick Hubbard, "Buddy" Kirk, Matthew Davidson, Kirby Sevier, Tom Craig, Hewes Hulls, Lee Goodson, Joe Estano and Bill Altman of Dallas, Texas.
