Russell Eddie Martin, age 76, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at his residence in Gordo, Alabama. Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Gordo, Alabama with Rev. Hershel Owen, Rev. Gene Dawkins and Rev. John Mitchell officiating. Family will receive friends and have visitation starting at 9:30 AM until service time with visitation again afterwards. A private family graveside ceremony will be held later that afternoon with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Trudie Hannah Martin; brother, Lee Cline and sister Nell.

Eddie is survived by his wife Alice Martin; sons, Craig (Beth) and Matt (Jenny); brother, Donald; grandchildren, Carli, Patelyn, Grady, and Hudson and several nieces and nephews.

Eddie was born November 9, 1945 in Tuscaloosa at Druid City Hospital to Trudy and Lee Martin. He married his wife, Alice Latham Martin, on May 23, 1969. He was a customer engineer at IBM for 25 years. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, tending to his summer vegetable gardens, and spending time with his family and friends.

Eddie Martin. Not many people could say that name without following it with a story. Eddie loved people and loved them well. From sharing his faith, to a favorite recipe, or a good song, he was never hesitant to talk to someone. He was a wonderful husband to Alice, the best dad Craig and Matt could have had, a loving grandfather to his four grandchildren, and a great friend to many. He will be greatly missed but never ever forgotten.

Pallbearers will be Danny Trull, Chad Bailey, Chris Martin, Jimmy Martin, Jeff Campbell, Blake Corbin, and Justin Trull.

Honorary pallbearers are Jeff and Carole Campbell, Warren and Kay Corbin, Richard and Linda Champion, Grady Martin, Hudson Martin, Don and Sissy Whitley, Jerome and Gwen Sullivan, Ken and Brenda Bailey, Linda Ferguson, Barbara Jordon, and the Gordo class of 1964.
