ALICEVILLE – Edna P. Moorehead Permenter, age 88, of Aliceville, Ala., died August 20, 2017, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. today, August 22, 2017, at Dogwood Chapel with Rev. Mike Ezelle officiating. Burial will follow in Attala Memorial Gardens in Kosciusko, Miss. with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at Dogwood Chapel, 200 5th Street NE in Aliceville.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Horthal Allen Moorehead; second husband, Julian Morris Permenter; son, Terry Lynn Moorehead; her parents, two sisters, Peggy Ann Thweatt and infant Thelma Thweatt; and one brother, Allen Earl Thweatt.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Meggs (Terry) of Northport, Ala.; sons, Allen Moorehead (Charlene) of Carrollton, Ala. and Ronnie Moorehead (Ann) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; step-sons, Tom Permenter of Kosciusko, Miss. and Julian Permenter (Melissa) of Aberdeen, Miss.; brothers, Billy Ray Thweatt (Mary Jo) and Jerry Lane Thweatt; 12 grandchildren, Stephen Moorehead (Donna), Kimberly Moorehead (Jason Boyd), Charlie Moorehead (Jennifer), Joy Moorehead, Chris Darby, Jimmy Young (Jessica), Melissa Beck (Chris), Andy Meggs (Rachel), Ronnie Moorehead, Jr. (Tabitha), Aaron Moorehead, Jacob Moorehead and Michele Stephens Snyder; ten great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and special caregiver and friend, Mae Hinton.
Mrs. Permenter was born January 27, 1929 in Kosciusko, Mississippi to the late Marvin Thweatt and Edna Chunn Thweatt. She was a member of Garden Baptist Church, a retired employee of Aliceville Cotton Mill, former owner of Edna's Mini Mart and well known resident of the Aliceville area.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are Dot Barrentine, members of Garden Baptist Church, Dr. Julia Boothe and staff, the staff of Aliceville Manor Nursing Home, the staff of Amedisys Hospice and friends of Aliceville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Garden Baptist Church, 1852 Sapps Road, Aliceville, AL 35442.
