EUTAW | Elaine Espey, age 75, of Eutaw, died December 5, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. William Betts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Otis Espey; her parents; sister, Mary Earle Middleton; and brother, Sydney Middleton.
Survivors include her son, Greg Espey (Michel) of Eutaw, Ala.; sister, Virginia Eatman (Irvin) of Aliceville, Ala.; two grandchildren, Emily Espey and Jacob Espey; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Elaine was born June 18, 1939 in Greene County, Alabama to the late Raymond Middleton and Mary Julia Carpenter Middleton. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a retired employee of Merchants & Farmers Bank in Eutaw, Alabama with 50 years of service.
Pallbearers will be Larry Cotton, Wesley Cotton, Homer Carpenter, Jr., Trae Carpenter, Irvin Eatman and Dan Granand.
Honorary pallbearers are Emmette Gunnells, Billy Sommerville, employees of Merchants & Farmers Bank and members of Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
