REFORM Ellen Marie Akin Potts, age 74, of Reform, died November 26, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held today at 11 a.m. November 29, 2013, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her husbands, Eulice Akin and Benny Potts; her parents; and infant daughter, Phyllis Marie Akin.Survivors include her daughters, Donna Hysaw (Jimmy) of Kennedy, Ala., Charlene Fife (Marty) of Reform, Ala., and Sebbie Smith (Dave) of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; son, Doug Akin (Kristy) of Columbiana, Ala.; sister, Margie Stokes; brother, Lester Guy; 11 grandchildren, Dale Fife, Michelle Fife, Danielle Thomas, Amanda Lofton, Rufus Thompson, Jared Akin, Cherise Richey, Melissa Bak, Valarie Moore, Felicia Nicholas and Nicole Nicholas; 16 great-children; and special friend and neighbor, Flossie Spruill.Mrs. Potts was born December 17, 1938 to the late Hugh William Guy and Leona Hester Guy. She was a member of the Baptist faith, a retired seamstress and a well known resident of Pickens County. Pallbearers will be Chris Brents, Johnny Lofton Sr., Josh Bonner, Randy Duncan, Mitch Britt, Matthew Britt and Anthony Boone.Honorary pallbearers are Rufus Thompson, Dale Fife and Jared Akin.A special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Northport Medical Center – DCH ICU and DCH Regional Medical Center MICU.
