GORDO | Emogene Sanders Koon, age 86, of Gordo, died June 20, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 at Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church and Rev. Randy Kee, Rev. Mark Dean, and Jeffery Brown officiated. Burial followed with a private family graveside service in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the church.She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gladys Cook.Survivors include her husband, of 67 years, William H. ""Billy"" Koon; daughters, Billie Jean Brown (Jeffery), Becky Turner (Don), and Bobbie McConnell (Robin); son, William Boyd Koon (Mona Sha); sister, Linda Sanders Watson; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.Emogene was born December 31, 1928 in Gordo, Ala. to the late Arthur Hill Sanders and Naomi Byars Sanders. She was a graduate of Gordo High School and Massey Draughn Business College in Montgomery, Ala. She served as bookkeeper many years for Hickman's Hatchery/Peco Foods in Gordo. She was very active in the Fairview community serving as clerk and Sunday school teacher many years for Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church. Emogene was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed by her family.Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Steven Koon, Wesley Brown, Scott Koon, Stewart Koon, Wade Brown, and Bart McConnell.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to a charity of your choice.
