GORDO – Ernest LeRoy ""Ernie"" McDaniel, age 54, of Gordo, Ala., died August 6, 2016, in Gulf Shores, Ala. A celebration of his life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chuck Peart and Rev. Trey Reece officiating. Visitation will be after the service at the funeral home with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Lemuel and Stella McDaniel and Charles and Isabella Peart, and cousin and best friend, Kenneth McDaniel.
Survivors include his wife, Rene Bass McDaniel; daughter, Lena Lovelady (Brandon); sons, Michael Kennedy (Jenifer) and Adam Bass (Samantha); brother, Chip McDaniel (Susie); and seven grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Annabelle, Katilynn, Madalyn, Dylan, Jacob, Hunter and Addilyn; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was Poppy to nephews, Nicholas and Austin. He was Poppy not only to his grandchildren, but to all their friends.
Ernie was born August 11, 1961 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Lemuel McDaniel and Lois Peart McDaniel. He was a former employee of Mercedes Benz in Vance and a veteran of the United States Army National Guard.
