Faye Wilkins
Cowart
May 12, 1936 – April 11, 2019
On Thursday, April 11, 2019, Faye Wilkins Cowart, age 82, of Ethelsville, AL, peacefully
left this earth for her eternal home. A graveside service will be 2:00pm Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at
Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. George Shaw and Rev. Roy Plymon
officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will follow the service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Cowart; daughter, Debbie Ann Mason-Elmore;
her son-in-law, Joe Mason; her parents; one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include her son, Randy Cowart; son-in-law, Mike Elmore; three grandchildren, Jody
Mason, West Cowart Chase Elmore (Kate); two great-grandchildren, Maggie and Grady and special
friend, Elaine Hall.
Faye was born May 12, 1936 in Reform, Alabama to the late Abner Clester Wilkins and Trannie
Mae Lowe Wilkins. Faye married Fred Cowart and made her home in McShan, Alabama where they
raised two children together. She was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church and retired
from Westinghouse with 32 years of service. Faye enjoyed her greatest role when she was given the
title MawMaw. Loving and caring for her grandchildren gave her the most joy of her life and all around
her knew it. Many days she could be found throwing a ball in the yard or playing with horses in the
floor as she spent time with her favorite boys. As they grew older, she was always close by cheering
them on, no matter their adventure in life.
Faye endured many hardships during her time on earth, but always found a way to have hope
for better days. She lived her life for others and will be greatly missed.
