REFORM - Fermon Leon Orr, Jr., age 79, of Reform, Ala., died March 9, 2018, at Pickens County Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Latham officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Rae Orr; grandchildren: Madison Orr and Morgan Orr; his parents; brother, Hoyt Orr; and sister, Jo Nell Maroney.
Survivors include his sons, Tommy Orr and wife, Jackie and Michael Orr and wife, Necole; grandchildren, Alex Orr, Aaron Orr and Mason Orr; and niece, Donna Tittsworth (Barry).
Leon was born September 14, 1938 to the late Fermon L. Orr, Sr. and Hilda Hollingsworth Orr. He was the third of three children, the baby. Leon spent his whole life in Reform, Alabama. He graduated from Pickens County High School in 1956. He married the love of his life, Shirley Rae Jordan on November 9, 1963 and they made their home in Reform, Ala. next door to his parents.
Leon worked for Alabama Power Company for 30 years and was the Pastor at Reform First Free Will Baptist Church for 25 years and retired in 2017.
When Shirley died on May 28, 2016, Leon lost the love of his life. They were married for 52 years. From that day forward his life was never the same.
Today Leon is rejoicing at the feet of Jesus. He is reunited with the love of his life, Shirley, his precious grandbabies, Morgan and Madison and all his loved ones. His pain and suffering is over and he has a new body. Leon will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Shaw, Rodney Walters, Eddie Pierce, Buddy Ammons, David Odom and Jay Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers are Searcy Junkins, Jim Klosterman, Ray McDaniel, members of Reform First Free Baptist Church, staff of Amedisys Home Health and Pickens Co. Medical Center, Dr. Julia Boothe and Reform Primary Care, Barbara Bibee, Beverly Walters, Peggy Young, Cherrie Sims and former employees of the Reform office of Alabama Power Company.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Reform First Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 495, Reform, AL 35481.
