Obituary

Fern Cork Mullenix, age 82 of Gordo, AL, passed away Sunday March 28, 2021 at her residence. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday March 30, 2021 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Pat Powell officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform Directing.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Tammy Jo Mullenix, and her brothers, Rayford Fife and Robert Earl Cork.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joe Mullenix, son Jason D. Mullenix, grandchildren; Colby Gaddy (Carrie), Cabel Davis Mullenix, Camilla Jo Mullenix, and the mother of her grandchildren, Nikki Mullenix. She is also survived by her siblings, Nellie Fields, Clyde Cork (Brenda), Gloria Blakeney (Danny), Jean Bridges, David Fife (Carol), Lorraine Hall, Sharron Shepherd, Sandy Fife-Johnson (Jim), and Kay Carver (Terry).
Fern was born September 16, 1938 in Kennedy, AL to the late Earl Cork and Marie Fleming Fife. Her grandparents were Ovella Fleming, Lester Fleming, Bob Cork, and Glow Cork. She was a member of the Gordo First Baptist Church and a retired employee of the First National Bank of Central Alabama.
Honorary pallbearers are Jason Mullenix, Cabel Mullenix, Colby Gaddy, Danny Duffy, Mitch Dyer, Frank Elmore, David Fife, Randolph Trull, Dr. Scott Fulgham and staff, members of the Gordo First Baptist Church, and former employees of the First National Bank in Gordo.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Gordo First Baptist Church, 311 2nd Street NW, Gordo, AL 35466 or to Gordo High School Cheerleaders in memory of Tammy Mullenix, 630 4th Street NW, Gordo, AL 35466.
