Frederick Laverne "Brother" Mullenix, age 92, of Coker, AL passed away March 26, 2023 at his residence. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 31, 2023 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Gordo with Pastor Henry Joiner officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Faye Mullenix; stepson, Terry Mink; his parents; brothers, Cliff Mullenix, Floyd Mullenix and Hubert Mullenix and sisters, Ola Bell Smith, Mary Edna Robertson, Catherine Shirley and Tootsie Ayers.
Survivors include his wife, Renda Mink Mullenix; stepdaughters, Angie Stakes and Christy Vilaire; stepson, John Mink (Christy); brother, Searcy Mullenix; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mullenix was born September 26, 1930 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late John F. Mullenix and Effie Findley Mullenix. He was a member of the Baptist faith and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Frederick was a retired CNA with Bryce Hospital and Heritage Health & Rehab Center.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Smith, Tommy Shirley, Kenneth Shirley, Daniel Vilaire, Nate Mink, Michael Vilaire, Brandon Mullenix and Tim Brasher.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, P.O. Box 301, Gordo, AL 35466.
