Gaines Lewis House, age 88, of Northport, AL and formerly of Gordo died March 29, 2025 at Hospice of West Alabama.  Graveside services will be 11:00 am Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Gordo with Rev. Glenn Sandifer officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Lucille Page House; daughter, Julie House Lancaster; his parents; sister, Gladys Harvey Rogers and four brothers, Glenn House, Gail House, Gerald House and Maurice Wilburn.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Elmore and husband, Eddie; son-in-law, David Lancaster; four grandchildren, Courtney Cochran (Noah), Andrew Elmore (Cheryl), Christin Ray (Austin) and James Lancaster (Kalee Grace) and three great-grandchildren, William Rhodes Ray, Indiana Ruth Ray and soon-to-be baby boy, Lincoln Hugh Elmore.
Gaines was born December 12, 1936 in Gordo, Alabama to the late Norman Lee House and Frances Lucille Hollingsworth House.  He was a retired Vo-Tech teacher for the City of Tuscaloosa area schools and a retired veteran of the United States Navy with 20 years of service.
