Gene Robert Perrigin, age 85, of Columbus, MS died March 22, 2025 at OCH Medical Center in Starkville, MS. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Liberty Assembly of God with Bro. Kenneth Henegar officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery in the Liberty Community with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Perrigin; his parents and sister, Delean Aldridge.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Perrigin of Columbus, MS; daughters, Tammy Shaw (Danny) of Millport, Lisa Maxey (Whodo) of Ethelsville, Donna Kay Langford (Mike) of Ethelsville, Rebecca Bell of Ethelsville; bonus daughter, Millette Joy (Doug) of Columbus, MS; bonus sons, Wade Hampton (Shannon) of Ethelsville and Tommy Barham (Brandy) of Columbus, MS; brother, Olen Lee Perrigan (Gin) of Lynn Haven, FL; sister, Jenita Duncan of Reform; ten grandchildren, Dustin Vail, Crystal Williams (Josh), Casey Hudson (Chad), Cortney Whitten (Austin), Ashley Freeman (Hayden), Alisha Phelps (Shane), Jessica Ledbetter (William), William Shaw, Mikayla Pryor (David), Chase Gore (Brianna); ten bonus grandchildren; a multitude of great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was born September 11, 1939 in Reform, Alabama to the late Robert Olen Perrigin and Bertha Lee Prescott Perrigin. He was a member of Liberty Assembly of God, a retired employee of Omnova and a veteran of the United States Army.
Gene loved fishing, bird watching and woodworking. He loved to sing and spend time with his family. He was a special part of many peoples' lives and was a positive Christian influence on so many lives through the years.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Vail, Josh Williams, Chad Hudson, Chase Gore, David Pryor, Austin Whitten, Hayden Freeman, Shane Phelps and William Ledbetter.
Honorary Pallbearers are J. T. Barham and William Shaw.
