George L. Kyles, age 87, of Reform, AL passed away February 14, 2020 at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be immediately following the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Beatrice Burkhalter and Kitty Mae Babb and three brothers, William, Cleophus and Wilford Kyles.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Merle Latham Kyles; two daughters, Melissa Richardson (David) and Tami Wheat; his son, Jeff Kyles (Linda); sister, Myrtle Waldrop, brother, Victor Kyles (Maurine); seven grandchildren, Micah Richardson, Vance Richardson (Allison), Rylee Clark (Robbie), Leah Abrams (Jordy), Laci Kyles, Quinten Wheat and Carmen Wheat and two great-grandchildren, Presley Abrams and Paxton Abrams.
Mr. Kyles was born July 11, 1932 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Artie Lee Kyles and Edna Ermine Junkins Kyles. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church where he served as worship leader for over 25 years. George was also a Sunday School teacher at New Salem and a member of the Pickens Singing Men for many years. Mr. Kyles was a retired insurance agent for over 25 years and a U. S. Army veteran.
Pallbearers will be Micah Richardson, Vance Richardson, Quinten Wheat, Robbie Clark and Jordy Abrams.
Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Pickens Singing Men.
